1. What is PediatricianOnDemand?

We are part of Ivy Pediatrics. Our providers can treat children and young adults up until age 26 via secure video for any non-emergency medical conditions.

2. How can you treat a child via telemedicine?

Most diagnoses can be made via a detailed history, visual and auditory observation, and having a parent feel and touch the areas that are hurting the child.

3. What happens if you can’t make a diagnosis ?

There will be times where a medical diagnosis can’t be made via telemedicine and will require you to see us in person in one of our offices or go to the local urgent care or ER. Some of the examples are fever without symptoms, chest pain, fatigue, diffuse abdominal pain.

4. Can I use this service for medical emergencies?

This service is not for life threatening emergencies. If your child is having a seizure, labored breathing, lethargy, is unresponsive, please call 911.

5. How much does it cost?

At typical visit is $50 if your insurance does not cover it and typically lasts 10 minutes or less.

6. Am I still responsible for the fee if a diagnosis can’t be made or I am referred to my local doctor or the ER?

Yes. As soon as a telemedicine visit is started with a provider your credit card on file is charged.

7. What forms of payment you accept?

We only accept credit cards (Visa, MC, Amex, Discover)

8. Do you accept insurance?

We do but many plans have specific exclusions that don't cover telemedicine. We always request payment up front in situations where it is not clear if there is coverage or not. We will submit the claim to your insurance carrier and reimburse you if the visit gets covered in full minus any copay or deductible.

The following private insurances cover telemedicine but it may be plan specific: BCBS, CIGNA, AETNA (not HMO),  United, Oxford, Tricare.

The following medicaid insurances cover telemedicine: Horizon NJ Health, Americhoice, Aetna Better Health, Wellcare, Amerigroup.

9. Am I guaranteed to get an antibiotic or a prescription when I do a telemedicine visit?

No antibiotic treatments or any prescriptions are guaranteed. It is up to the provider to decide if a prescription is needed. Please remember that most coughs/runny noses/ flus/sore throats are caused by viruses and antibiotics will not help alleviate the symptoms.

10. Are there any medications you can’t prescribe?

We can’t prescribe narcotics (Percocet/codeine, etc), ADHD medications (Ritalin/Adderall), sedatives, sleeping aids, psychiatric medications (antidepressants, antianxiety), seizure medications, diabetes medications. This list is non-inclusive.

We reserve the right to deny care for potential misuse of services.

11. What do I do if my child is not getting better or getting worse?

Please see us in one of our offices (Manalapan, South Amboy, East Brunswick, Hamilton, Toms River, Holmdel, Lawrenceville, or East Windsor) in person ASAP or go to the local urgent care or ER. Link to all of our locations is: https://www.ivypediatrics.com/locations.html

12. How are prescriptions sent to my pharmacy?

We send the prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy that you specify during the visit.

13. How secure are my records?

Our platform is 100% HIPAA and PHI-compliant, cloud-based system

14. Can I use PediatricianOnDemand when I am out of the state of NJ?

Currently, we can only provide telemedicine services for patients who are NJ residents.

If you are an NJ resident that has been treated by us before and you are traveling out of state, then we can treat you.
